I love cocktails. Even as a student, I was to be found in ‘The Jazz Cellar’ drinking a Sloe Comfortable Screw Against the Wall rather than downing a pint. Trust me to like the one with the embarrassing name – my teenage gawkiness coming to the forefront, as I failed to meet the barman’s eye and asked in a hushed voice…’Er…please may I have…..’.
Since then I have tried many others and there is one that remains my favourite. The only thing is, it’s a bit of a cliché. I wish I liked something more unusual or less publicised, but it is without doubt my cocktail of choice and first tasted due to the recommendation of a friendly London barman, rather than Miss Carrie Bradshaw. However, it is a Cosmopolitan to which I turn on those now rare occasions I find myself frequenting a decent bar.
Served in a classic cocktail/martini glass, it consists of two shots of lemon vodka, one shot of cointreau, one shot of cranberry juice and a half a shot of lime juice. Shake ‘em up with ice, strain and pour; then garnish with a twist of lime or orange. Gorgeous and to be sipped elegantly rather than hoovered down with a straw.

My fave is the lethal snow queen, vanilla vodka and champagne. Delish. & very potent.
